USATF National Cross-Country Championships

Orlando, Florida
December 6, 1998
Men's 10K results
Women's 6K results
Masters's 10K results

This race was the club's first appearance on the national scene in years. The men's team finished in 19th place thanks to great performances by Ethan Crain (89th place), Jesse Darley (93), Deon Barrett (120), Mark Reeder (150), John Blouin (155), Ben Nephew (161), and Jim Pawlicki (177). The women's team also put in great runs by Livvy Williams (74th place) and Tracey Timmins (84), but did not have enough members to appear in the official team standings. Coach Tom Derderian even ran in the master's race. It was a hot and humid day, but the excitement was so high after the race that the club vowed to send an even stronger team to the next national championship in Los Angeles, certain to be another hot and humid location for a race.

The club and the club membership contributed donations to help defray some of the team's travel expenses, and here coach Tom Derderian (left) accepts the club's contribution from club president Gary Snyder (right), as Gary wishes the team good luck at the end of the last practice before the championship meet. Another GBTC job well done.
Thanks, team.
