What's new

+ Josh Seeherman has update the top ten list and the 2008 outdoor performance list

+ Sara Donahue and her brother won the women's and men's open races at the 26th Annual GMAA Clarence DeMar Road Race 5K on the 4th in Vermont (results).

+ The GBTC women defended their USATF East Regional Championship title at Ichabod Crane High School in Valatie, New York, on July 5. The men placed second in a tight battle. Everad Samuels, representing GBTC for the first time, broke the masters (50+) 200m WORLD record! See the full results and the blog for more details.

+ At the US Olympic Trials, Sherita Williams triple jumped 13.52m (44-04.25) and advanced to the finals! (results) Other members of the GBTC family competing at the trials include Sean Furey (javelin) and Matt Chisam (decathlon).

+ Join us for the annual GBTC Date Auction at Limelight Studios at 204 Tremont Street in Boston on July 24th! Doors open at 8:00 pm and bidding starts at 8:30 pm. Purchase tickets and raffle tickets at the club store. 

+ Hector Cotto ran 13.83 in the hurdles at the New Balance Qualifying Championships in New York City, setting a club record.

+ The women and men finished third and fifth at the USATF New England Grand Prix 6K on May 11 (results).

+ David Bedoya was featured in an article in the Boston Globe. Many club members ran in the Boston Marathon, and in recent weeks have raced at Brown University and the venerable Penn Relays.  See the club blog for more stories.

+ The club held a reception for Amanda Parrish, the 2008 recipient of the Margaret Bradley Award, in the days before the Boston Marathon.

+ Josh Seeherman has updated the list of club marks for the 2007-2008 indoor season.  See the complete history of club marks maintained by many club members over the years.

+ Andrew Wommack won the Hyannis Half Marathon on February 24!  Our men won the Jones Town and Country 10 Miler in Amherst the same day (results).

+ The October 2007 newsletter, The Wingfoot, is on-line.

+ Caroline Occean, Sara O'Brien, Allison McCabe, and Gretchen Chick set a new club record for the DMR at the Terrier Invitational the weekend of January 25. In addition, Dacia Taylor broke the club 55m record with 7.21, and knocked off her own club 200m record by another tenth with 24.82. And Allison McCabe and Caroline Occean broke club records in the 3,000m and 1,000m. See results and video from the meet.

+ The annual Holiday Party was held at the Muddy Charles Pub on the MIT campus in Cambridge on December 16.

+ Lynn Johnson and Jessica Blake finished first and second in their age groups and first and fourth overall at the Christmas 10K in Newport on December 9 (results).

+ The women and men finished 16 and 39 at the USATF National Cross Country Championships in Ohio on December 8 (results). See video and photos from the meet. + At the New York Marathon on November 2, Kit Wells, David Bedoya, and Nathaniel Freese led the men's team to a second place finish (results).

+ Marzuki Stevens was interviewed on Flotrack

+ California International Marathon, Sarah Donohue ran an Olympic qualifier and set a new woman's marathon record for the club at 2:43:45, and Megha Doshi ran a huge PR!!

+ Allison McCabe won the 3000 in 9:53 at the Husky Winter Track & Field Carnival on December 1 (results).

+ In the final results of the 2007 USATF New England Cross Country Grand Prix, the GBTC women and men finished first and second, respectively.  The women for first with SISU, and the men finished second to SISU.

+ GBTC president Bruce Davie ran his personal best marathon in 2:46 in Philadelphia on November 18, finishing 69th overall. Bruce reports by email that Christy Bonstelle ran a PR by 4 minutes going 3:10.

+ At its annual meeting in October, the club elected a new board of directors for the 2007-2008 season: Christy Bonstelle, Bruce Davie, Rod Hemingway, Liz Kelly, Brad Kozel, Ken Ross, Josh Seeherman, Gary Snyder, Jenny Thomas.  We extend our thanks to these members, and our gratitude for departing board members Aaron Binkley, Megha Doshi, and Miyun Kim.  See video shown at the meeting.

+ Congratulations to Audrey Giesler, the 2007 recipient of the Margaret Bradley Award.

+ See the final results of the Topsfield Cross-Country Festival held on September 30at the beautiful Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield, and pictures of the men and women running.

+ The GBTC men won the USATFNE Grand Prix 10 miler on September 23 --- the Apple Harvest 10 miler --- led by Avi Kramer, Kibrom Temelso, Ryan Aschbrenner, Giannis Papadopoulos, David Bedoya (blog, results).  The GBTC men and women won the Codfish Bowl cross country meet the day before (blog, results).

+ Ryan Aschbrenner won the Nahant 30K Road Race on September 16 (results), and Mike Panas came in second at the Applefest 5K the day before that (results).
