GBTC wins on the Track and in the Field

Lowell, MA May 19—New Balance Twilight #2: GBTC’s Dacia Taylor-Samuels won the 200 and Stacy Conner and Deirdra Murphy traded wins and place in the discus and shot. Dave Cahill came within a chin whisker of 2:00 in the 800 and Sean Duncan beat his BAA pal Eric Ashe by chinny chin chin whisker in the splashy steeplechase.

A trio of GBTC women endured the savagely competitive 10,000 meter feature event. Andrea Walkonen, Kyle Linn MacQueen, and Aly Millett drove themselves around the track 25 times.

David Kennedy won the 200. Nate Hunter put the shot out of anyone’s reach. Full results are available here. Continue reading for photos from the day.

This Valentine meet at Boston University may be the biggest, best indoor track meet in the country. Forty-three sections, 199 men,158 women in 32 sections, ran 200 meters. The starter fired his pistol over three hundred times. The arena sounded like a war zone. Six sections ran in the men’s 5,000. Two hundred and three men raced the mile. The final Friday night women’s 5,000 meter ended at 11:20 pm! Too many GBTC athletes competed to list all here, but full results can be found here.

I’ll list only our top finishers: Tahari James won the triple jump and placed 4th in the long jump behind Casey Taylor. Rich Harrison took third in the shot put and Ryan Place raced to 4th in the 5,000. Hafiz Greigre took 5th in the 200, fifth places also for Allison McCabe in the 1000 and for Kat Warden in the 800 marking her debut in GBTC colors.
