2010 Bradley Award: Gretchen Chick

Gretchen Chick receives 2010 Bradley Award

It is our pleasure to recognize Gretchen Chick as the 2010 recipient of the annual Margaret Bradley Award. Gretchen is a 2004 graduate of Brandeis University who is currently working as a nurse in the greater Boston area. During college, she competed on the DIII XC national qualifying team (2002) and individually qualified for DIII nationals (2003). Impressively, Gretchen has improved all her college PRs since running under Coach Derderian with her GBTC teammates. She has excelled in the mile (5:01), 3K (9:57), 5K (17:27), 10K (37:25), and marathon (3:20). Gretchen attributes much of her success to training with a team that “shares the same excitement, dedication, and passion for this sport and knows how to have fun!” Gretchen displays strong leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to the team both on and off the track. Her future goals not only include lowering all her PRs, including running a sub-3 hour marathon, but also “making running a lifelong commitment by incorporating training and running into everyday life wherever I am.” GBTC has established the Margaret Bradley Award in honor of Margaret, who died while on a trail run through the Grand Canyon on July 10, 2004, at the age of 24.
