Boston High Performance #3
The GBTC team looks ready for next week's New England Championships from the performances in the 6/9/07 Boston High Performance meet.
The big news of the day may be Gretchen Chick's 20 second personal best in the 3,000 meters or Allison McCabe and Caroline Occean sprinting to the finish of the elite 1500 meters with only eight one-hundredths of a second between them. Or the image of the meet may have been Ted Breen swimming through fatigue in the elite 1500 to a personal best. Although Junyong Pak ran a personal best in the open 3000 and Avi Kramer took a fourth place in the elite 5000 meters maybe David Cahill flinging himself around the track, not his usual once, but twice to run 2:01 in the 800 meters provided the indelible image of the evening.
These athletes combined with those from events not offered at the Bentley meets may well win the New England Championships again at MIT on June 17. The team will go on to the Eastern Regionals on July 7 in Albany and the Club Nationals in New York on July 14-16.
