Noble Gesture Costs Wells Win

Cohasset MA, April 1, 2007—A noble gesture cost GBTC's Kit Wells the win in the 31st running of the Cohasset 10 km. After finishing second last year Wells wanted very much to win this race. When Henry Scollard took the early lead Wells remained cool stalking him from a few meters back. At five mile Wells pulled even. Scollard responded. At the six mile mark the course descended to the Cohasset Village Common, a picturesque green surrounded white halls and churches. Henry Scollard ran right to circle the green heading toward the orange cones that marked the start. But the race really finished to the left. Silence would have won Wells the race. A whisper would have won, (I told you but you didn't hear me.) But instead Wells shouted. Henry Scollard turned, sprinted in the correct direction and won by seconds.

GBTC president and masters runner Bruce Davie took 4th over all but was second master because Henry Scollard is a master.
