Last weekend, GBTC competed at the Bay State Games Track & Field Meet held at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. It was a hot day, but the team still achieved many season’s best (SB) marks and first place finishes.

Ernixh Harris put up a great showing at the meet by earning 1st in both the 400m dash and the 400 hurdles, running a personal record (PR) time of 50.41 & SB time of 55.17, respectfully. He also garnered a second place finish in the 200m with a PR time of 22.90. Ernixh was joined in the 400m by teammate Bryant Madrigal, who clocked in 50.99 for a solid silver medal effort.

Nicholas Aleles had a decent day on the track as well, doubling up in the 100m and 200m. Nick earned SBs in both events handily, dashing through the 100m with a time of 11.71 and earning a 3rd place finish in the 200m with a final mark of 23.51.

Fellow Masters athletes Jon Berit and Richard Derosas happily joined in on the medals galore and ran strong performances at their respective events. Rich, competing in the Master’s 200m dash crushed the competition with a first place finish out of eight other athletes, earning an SB time of 26.41 in the process. He was joined by Jon Berit, who ran through the line in 36.71. Jon had earlier taken first in the Master’s 60+ 800m event with a 2:52.08 mark.

All of the athletes above have now qualified to represent the State of Massachusetts at the State Games of America Meet, to be held in Ames, Iowa in 2021. They can compete in the events that they medaled in. Congrats to all athletes!

The Women’s team (Rebecca Gonsalves-Lamontagne, Mary Foday, Chantel Sayegh, and Katie Hitchcock-Smith) raced shortly after the Men, and finished 2nd out of the three teams competing, earning silver medals in the event, and finishing in a time of 53.11.

GBTC returned to action on Saturday, April 26th with Ernixh Harris racing in the 400m and finishing in 58.57. Later in the afternoon, D’Mahl McFadden competed in the 110m Hurdles event, garnering not only a PR time of 14.38, but a silver medal as well.
