GBTC Competes at Frank Nealon Boston Tune-Up 15K


The GBTC Women’s Team with Coach Tom Derderian at the Frank Nealon Boston Tune-Up 15k

The GBTC Men’s and Women’s teams competed at the Frank Nealon Boston Tune-Up 15K in Upton, MA on Saturday, March 30th.  This was the second race in the 2019 USATF-New England Grand Prix Series.

The GBTC Women’s team, led by Kerri Leonhardt (57:04.9), finished in second place out of the 14 teams competing.  Kerri was the fifth place female overall.  Teammates Lauren Opachinski (58:53.3), Aly Ursiny (58:53.4), Victoria Barnaby (59:25.0), and Shannon Trant (1:00:02.2) also scored for the team.

The GBTC Men’s team finished fifth overall out of 20 teams competing.  Eric Mendoza was the top GBTC finisher, running 50:45.7.  Manny Gonzalez (50:49.9), David Metzger (50:51.1), Ian Neill (50:53.9), and Erik Hinrichsen (51.40.2) also scored for the team.

The next USATF-New England Grand Prix race is the Run Westfield 5K in Westfield, MA on Saturday, May 18th. GBTC will also have over 25 athletes competing in the 2019 Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15th.
