The past few days have been quite the show for GBTC trackletes. Thursday evening at the Adrian Martinez Classic in Concord, MA, a few club members toed the line against some big name athletes. Alex Engel ran against Brooks Beast stars Cas Loxsom, Riley Masters, and Mark Wieczorek along with other national class professional athletes. Engel placed 9th in the high performance 800m section with a time of 1:50.73.
Mike Carlone raced in the B section of the high performance mile for a 4:19.69 while Chris Blondin took home the victory in the Master’s Mile heat with a 4:44.19.
GBTC also showed their colors at the final New Balance Boston Twilight Meet yesterday evening. Just two days after his 1:50 800m, Alex Engel dusted the field in the 400m to win in 48.49. Recent All-American Chris Kibler put on a solid show in the featured 5000m event to place 6th in 14:57.16 while Andy Chalmers and Adrian MacDonald ran sub 16s in the blazing heat with 15:30.03 and 15:57.52. Liz Ryan also ran well in that co-ed 5k, throwing down an 18:31.94. Mike Carlone won the 2nd heat of the 800m in a personal record 1:59.46 to follow up his Martinez Mile performance. GBTC will be back in action next weekend at the Ribfest 5 Mile USATF-NE Road Championships.
