GBTC brought a large men’s team including three new members, a masters team and 50+ and 60+ to race on a warm, humid fall day on wet course but after blue sky replaced the night of rain and morning of fog. Other teams showed up too. BAA arrived in force as did the New Balance Boston team, HFC Striders, the host Western Mass Distance Project and a team from UMass Lowell. Long time GBTC members Kibrom Temelso led the men’s team. New runners Conner Rose, Jerzy Eisenberg-Guyot, and Peter Haine helped the regulars place third.
A cagey pack led the women’s race through a first mile of 5:22. On the hill out of the river valley NB Boston’s Erin Drumgoole knew she could run strong on the uphill so surged away to try to win, but GBTC’s Kyle Feldman stayed close enough to catch up on the flat field and win the race by 8 seconds. Allison McCabe placed third with Alyse Rocco 10 for the team with Meghan Lynch 4th. New Keene State College grad and GBTC debutant Amy Knoblock placed fifth. GBTC placed second.
