Personal Bests and wins at Tufts Invitational # 1

The Tufts athletic department holds a series of invitational events mostly for their fellow DIII colleges but invited a few athletes from GBTC and some other clubs. Amelia Landberg and Kyle MacQueen of GBTC, seeing themselves as older and more experienced, decided to take the pace in the mile and put on a show for their hosts. Indeed they put on a show.

Landberg exploded from the gun into the lead with MacQueen in tow through the first lap in 36 seconds. After 400 meters MacQueen took over, racing through 800 meters in 2:30, and then amazingly picked up the pace, with Landberg dropping back slightly. MacQueen kicked in with a faster second half to finish in a personal best of 4:55.50. Landberg also bettered her personal best with 5:07.66. Michelle Blouin won the second section of the mile in 5:42.98.

Cory Fairfield won the high jump with 1.96 meters.

GBTC had two runners in the women’s 1000m: Jessica Klett in 2:59.96 for second place and Victoria Barnaby in 4th with a 3:04.96.

Jen Dagon took 5th in the 600m with a 1:41.04 and also raced in the 200.

Katie Famous took third place in the 3000m with 10:48.56.

Jason Ayr ran the 3000m, and David Bedoya and John Blouin raced the mile.
