Joining the Greater Boston men’s teams of the past the current GBTC women’s team won the team prize in the 2004 Boston Marathon. The team of Margaret Bradley, Jessica Blake, and Laura Hayden combined their times to a lower total than any of the dozens of teams entered. The three of them indeed suffered in the heat and humidity of a very slow running day.
The GBTC men’s team placed 4th.
Our women’s team looked splendid at the evening awards ceremony in the Ballroom at the Copley Plaza hotel. Margaret Bradley, Jessica Blake, and Laura Hayden had showered and dressed well before they walked amid the applause; a spotlight followed them to the stage where they accept the sparkling Waterford Crystal bowl for their victory. Parents on hand beamed as their daughters dazzled in the strobe lights.
