Going to nationals

The Club is sending 40 track and field athletes to compete in the USATF National Club Championships to be held in Bloomington, Indiana on Saturday, July 19, 2003. This is the third annual Club Championships and GBTC is the defending champs for both men and women.

Some of the top GBTC entries include: Stanley Egbor, in the 100 and 200 Meters with times of 10.31 and 20.66, Brjan Black in the Javelin with distance of 217 ft., and Kobye Fuller in the 200 and 400 meters ( 21.1, 47.9), for the GBTC women, Shaina Damm, a recent graduate of Dartmouth College who has long jumped 19’0, she will be competing in four field events, and Courtney Trainor, who was the MVP of last year’s women’s events, Trainor will be competing in many field events as well as some hurdle events. Janna Bromell, recent graduate of Wheaton College will be running the 200 and 400-meter races, has recently run 25.39 and 55.75 respectively.

There will be 20 leading track and field teams competing for $6,500.00 in team prize money. Dave Callum, the GBTC track and field coach expects the competition to be tougher than the past but has high hopes for our club’s success.
